Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Snyff is a journaling and care-coordination app for pet owners. We built it to keep your pet's information organized and private. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the app actually needs to work.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share a private relay email rather than your real address.
Content you create
This includes your pet's profile (name, breed, birthday), journal entries, voice notes, photos, care logs (feeding, medications, activity, symptoms, training), and health records (vaccinations, allergies, weight, vet details). This content belongs to you.
Usage and diagnostic data
We collect limited analytics and crash/diagnostic data to keep the app stable and understand which features are used. It is not used to build advertising profiles.
Purchase information
When you subscribe, the transaction is processed by Apple. We receive subscription status (which tier is active) but not your full payment card details.
2. How we use information
- Provide the core app — store and display your pet's journal, logs, and records across your devices.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Generate features you request, such as weekly summaries, care sheets, and AI photo observations.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
- Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your pet's content to serve advertising.
3. AI features
Snyff's AI features include photo observations and written summaries, such as weekly digests and entry recaps. When you use one of these features, the content it needs is sent to our AI processing provider, Anthropic, through our secure server: a photo you choose, or text from your journal entries and care records, to generate a plain-language description or summary. Important points:
- The feature is descriptive only. It does not provide a diagnosis, medical opinion, or veterinary advice, and is never a substitute for a professional.
- Content is sent only when you actively use an AI feature.
- Your images and content are not used to train third-party AI models.
- Processing happens server-side; the provider does not receive your account credentials.
4. Sharing and disclosure
Sharing you initiate
You can create care sheets or read-only links to share your pet's information with a sitter, family member, or vet. These happen because you choose to create them, and links can be set to expire.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run Snyff: cloud hosting and database services, our AI processing provider (Anthropic), analytics/crash reporting, and subscription management. They process data on our behalf under agreements that limit their use of it.
Legal and safety
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Snyff.
5. Storage, security & retention
Your data is stored with our cloud infrastructure provider and protected by access controls so that, in normal operation, only you can access your account's content. We use encryption in transit and row-level security so accounts are isolated from one another.
We retain your content while your account is active. If you delete entries or your account, we remove the associated content from our active systems; residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access & export: view and export your pet's data from within the app.
- Correction: edit or update entries and records at any time.
- Deletion: delete individual items or your entire account.
- Communications: opt out of non-essential emails.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these, contact us below.
7. Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store and managed via our subscription infrastructure. We receive your entitlement status to unlock the right features. Payment details are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
8. Children
Snyff is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
